A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse November 8, 2018 Who's The Boss? Scripture Reading – Romans 1:1"This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News."

If you were to ask most people, at least concerning their own lives, 'Who's The Boss', they would quickly, honestly and simply reply, 'I am'.

There was a time when the apostle Paul would have shared the same reply and at the same time would have had no problem stating his pedigree, and credentials to do a fine job of being the boss of his own destiny.

But on the road to Damascus when Paul was blinded by the love and light of Jesus Christ, everything changed. Now as we see in his opening letter to the church at Rome, no longer is the life that he spends - his to do as he sees fit. Now there is another boss, or if I may borrow from the Word of God, another Lord, and His name is Christ Jesus.

Not only does Paul the apostle ask what His opinion is in the day by day decisions and directives he lives out. Rather Paul gives up the right to control his own life anymore at any time. In the kind of praying that says, 'may Your kingdom come and Your will be done', the brilliant and great apostle Paul calls himself, 'a slave of Christ Jesus'.

Now to the human spirit, there is no interest in being a slave to anyone, ever, because we will be the shapers of our own destiny and no one will tell us what to do, when to do it, or how to get there.

However, to the one who as Paul understood, begins to have such a revelation of the glory of Christ Jesus and His power alone to set us free to live life more abundantly - they too will long to be the slave of Christ Jesus. For it is in that posture that we truly live life as it was meant to be. This is the life more abundantly that Jesus Christ came, died and rose again that the Father desires for each one of us to see.

Prayer Father in heaven I pray that You will open my eyes that I may more truly see, all of the good You have purposed for and through me. I want to be the bond slave, the servant of my loving Lord Jesus Christ. Thank-You for saving me I pray through His most holy name today.
