A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse October 13, 2018 Anointing Unlimited Scripture Reading – Psalm 23:5b "You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings."

The Shepherds Psalm, 23 - certainly one of the most comforting and assuring texts in God's Holy Word. Allow the heart of God to wash over yours, even right now!

The anointing oil had a very specific purpose in the heart of the shepherd for his flock. It was from protection from parasites and viruses that may inflict them in the areas of their eyes, ears, mouth or nose. It also could be used as a healing comforting agent to the lamb that was injured or afflicted.Of course we are familiar with the oil in the Old Covenant as being representative of priestly blessing. In the New Covenant we understand oil as being a type of the Person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit with the priesthood of all believers being included.

Since the oil comes from God, Who has a boundless supply this truly is representative of an, 'Anointing Unlimited'. As the Holy Spirit so fills our lives, He heals, He counsels, He comforts and He gives us wisdom and grace to console others in Jesus name. This anointing from heaven sets our lives in a place of honor, where the blessings of God can not only be resident in our hearts and lives, but they actually can overflow in abundance for others to know His precious heart and touch on their lives as well.

Prayer Father, I thank-You for Jesus Christ, the Good and Gentle Shepherd, Who leads and guides my steps all along the way. Holy Spirit I pray I would walk in that healing hope of Christ Jesus in the fullness of the anointing of God that the glory of God will fill my life and touch others. Fill me and overflow through me today I pray in Jesus precious name.

Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
