A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse October 1, 2018 Be The One Scripture Reading – John 7:37 - 38 "On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, 'Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, 'Rivers of living water will flow from his heart."

Can you picture in your mind perhaps a sporting event....even the playoffs in a sporting event, or the high point day in some type of a festival, where throngs of people were chorusing all about? Now picture an individual getting up on an elevated portion of the wall and yelling at the top of their lungs at the passing crowds. Such was the case in today's text.

And in this proclamation on that day, and still reaching down to any who will hear His open-ended invitation to one and to all - Jesus Christ implores us to come and receive from His great bounty. The reception that we are to enjoy and share is one that cannot be contained, but will flow out of our lives in great gushings even for others to enjoy. Who would not want the abundant rivers of joy in the Holy Spirit to flow from within their hearts and very lives?

Very few believers would say this was not exactly what they want. But in order for this to take place one must choose to, 'Be The One'. For the description of this abundance comes only to those who will thirst after Jesus. What are you thirsting for today? And further it is for the one who believes in Jesus. What are you believing, hoping, trusting Him for today? Finally, it is for the one who drinks deeply again and again from that well that will never run dry. What are you drinking today?

As you and I place ourselves in that very place, nothing - absolutely nothing will stop or ever contain that flow. Not only will we be deeply satisfied, but many more will be able to come, taste and see that the Lord, He indeed is good too!

Prayer Father in heaven today I confess that only You can and will ever satisfy my deepest needs and longings. Holy Spirit help me to hunger, thirst, believe and drink deeply and continually of the life that is mine in Christ Jesus I pray. Flow through me, that others may know the abundant life that is only found through Jesus Christ my living and loving Lord.

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:7 “You must each decide in your ______ how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
