A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse May 16, 2018 God's Grow Op Scripture Reading – Luke 6:38 (NLT) "Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full - pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back."
Our God is the great giver. So much so, that He gave His only Son that whoever would come to Him in faith will receive that gift of eternal life! As those who have come to Him in this fashion, we now are so loved by God that we are called His daughters and sons. All of us who know God in this way have confessed with our mouth that Jesus Christ is our Lord.
As Lord, therefore we are no longer in charge of our own lives, but recognize that everything that we are and have has been given to us by our loving Father to steward for the purposes of eternity. Our God owns all things, and therefore has a great storehouse of blessing that He desires to pour out on His very own. Exactly how does, 'God's Grow Op', work? As today's text illustrates it is impossible to out give Someone who owns all things: all of the silver, the gold, the cattle - it all belongs to Him.
And sow - this principle is at work. As we give, then we truly will receive. And the promise of God is not only that our needs will be met, but there will come an overflow into our lives, so that we may be able to minister to others also. There is a never ending supply that comes from the gracious hand of our Father in this regard. In fact, there is absolutely nothing that can close off this tap of blessing from above. Nothing that is except you and I. For the amount that we give, the sacrifices that we make to God will determine what we get back, in spirit, soul and body, a rich provision that will bring glory to His name.
If for any reason we are not satisfied in these days with the returns that we have been experiencing, perhaps we need to look at the amount that we have been investing, in thought/word and deed.
Prayer My Father today I acknowledge that You supply me with all things. I thank-You for the abundant blessing that is mine through Christ Jesus my Lord. Help me to give from a heart of faith that Your rich blessing may flow through my life, I pray in Jesus precious name.
