A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse May 10, 2018 The Better Resurrection Scripture Reading – Hebrews 11:35 (NLT)"Women received their loved ones back again from death. But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection."

Professional athletes, artists, musicians count it a great honor when they are admitted to the Hall of Fame, for which they have given of their lives, honed their craft, faithfully developed their talent. It is especially meaningful, at least to them, when this takes place when they are alive! Hebrews 11 has been aptly named, 'The Hall of Fame of Faith'.

It is certainly true that we too love to rejoice with those who triumph in victory and receive great answers to prayer as seen when we walk through this chapter: Enoch taken up to live with God right from earth, the ark saving Noah and his family, Abraham moving toward God's land of promise, Sarah bearing a child, Isaac blessing his sons, Moses marching God's people through the Red Sea, Jericho's mighty walls coming down, and on and on we could go!

These certainly illustrate the walk of faith, and we like them - but even they point towards, 'The Better Resurrection'. However even when things seem to go South, at least humanly speaking to our natural eye and human understanding: as those who were not healed, or died, or even were tortured for their faith, or did not receive the human deliverance for which they were praying. As they and yes as we right now today, refuse to stop placing their/our faith in the living God, they/we too gain this better resurrection. Which does not last for 10, 40, 70 or even 97 years, but for all of eternity, to the glory of Christ Jesus our living and loving Lord Who never ever will leave us or forsake us!

Life in all of its mountains and even valleys should point us towards our eternal destiny through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayer Thank-You Father for the victory that is ours in Christ Jesus. Help me to remember that this world is not my home. And even when things happen that I cannot understand, Holy Spirit enable me to trust You and hold Your hand. Make me a blessing to those walking this life of faith along with me I pray in Jesus precious name.

Memory Verse: James 4:7 NLT “So _______ yourselves before _____. _______ the ______, and he will flee from you.”
