A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse May 3, 2018 Shout It Out Scripture Reading – Luke 19:37 (NLT)"When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen."
It is very interesting to me to take note in today's text of what, 'all of his followers' began to do because they realized that they were in the presence of Jesus Christ. It was not only a few of them, or those ones who had that more given to outward expression type of personality bent, or even most of them - but it was them ALL!
The text tells us that first of all they began to...shout - which defined means: 'to utter a sudden and loud cry, as in joy or exultation, or to call to a person's attention'. Secondly they all began to...sing - which defined means: to utter with musical modulations of voice; to celebrate in song; to give praises to in verse. Thirdly they were all...praising God for everything that they had seen Him do. Praising defined is....'to commend; to applaud; to express approbation of; to extol in words or song; to laud or magnify'.
I wonder if Jesus Himself were to walk into many church services today if He would find these things being done by, 'all of the people', shouting, singing and praising for all they had seen? I would respectfully suggest that as we gather together in worship and exultation of our risen Lord Jesus Christ that each one of us make it our part to bring all of our expressions of praise together, encouraging - 'all of us', to shout and sing and praise our risen King Jesus. So go ahead and. 'Shout It Out', for our King Jesus is alive!
Otherwise newer people who join us may wonder if they have arrived at a funeral meeting instead of a resurrection celebration.
Prayer Heavenly Father today I commit to do my part to come to You with my brothers and sisters in expressive praise and worship, singing and even shouting that my Jesus is alive. May our times of worship together be a testimony to that fact I pray in Jesus mighty name.
