A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse April 18, 2018 Undone to Run Scripture Reading – Ezekiel 44:4 (NLT)"Then the man brought me through the north gateway to the front of the Temple. I looked and saw that the glory of the Lord filled the Temple of the Lord, and I fell face down on the ground."

There is an absolutely awe inspiring pattern that we can observe throughout Scripture when someone comes into contact with the glory of the Lord. And as in this case with Ezekiel where he fell down prostrate to the ground in His glory, when we come to the end of ourselves we can then become, 'Undone to Run'.

For in the natural, we often times take all of our accomplishments, our character strengths, or natural abilities, our striving, planning and plotting (not that any of these things are bad when first placed in the Master's hand) - to accomplish what we plan to do.

However, in the eternal realm, the work of the Kingdom is never accomplished by the hand of man alone, but rather by the surrender of self and selfish motivation to allow God to move and work through our lives to His greater glory. And while He will use our best efforts and intentions to be sure, that will work best when we have completely given ourselves over in surrender for service.

Here for Ezekiel, it was that the Lord would use him to restore proper worship in the Temple for His glory. In the case of Moses, as he took off his shoes, he had to come to understand that it would not be by his fine speech that deliverance would come, but by the power of God.

In the case of the holy prophet Isaiah, he exclaimed (much I am sure to the shock of many other self-righteous religious people) that he - yes he as godly as his life was, in comparison to the glory of God was completely undone, and so was every person that he existed with. And in that place of surrender and cleansing said, here I am send me.

For John, who perhaps was the closest to Jesus, when he saw Him glorified, he fell at his feet as a dead man. And only when we truly die to ourselves, can the glory and revelation of Jesus best flow through us also.

And so Lord today may we have a greater glimpse of your glory. For we will then and only then see who we truly are, and become even more useful in Your mighty hand.

Prayer Holy God, reveal Your glory greater to me today. So I may serve You through Jesus I pray.
