Think About It Scripture Reading – Psalm 1:2 (NLT)"But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night."

A former missionary and pastor for which I have the utmost admiration recently testified that after reading through the entire bible for years annually - he almost found that to become like a speed reading race to get through it. Coming eventually to the place in bible study where he began to dwell on texts taking more time, and allowing the Holy Spirit to whisper and reveal secrets that can be missed in a quick read.

Pastor Rick Warren has suggested some different methods of thinking on the Word of God by: Pronouncing It, Picturing It, Probing It, Paraphrasing It, Personalizing It, and Praying It, (see 40ditw.com for more helpful resources).

This is exactly the kind of spiritual discipline that today's text calls us to concerning God's Word, that we would, 'Think About It'. The admonition is to allow the Word to be with us at all times, both day and night. Not only to be with us as if we have heard that or even read that before, but as my missionary friend suggested to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the deep truths of His word to our hearts and lives. That is accomplished as we take time, slow down and meditate on His word, asking the Holy Spirit to open up our eyes and teach us, as we dwell upon, turn over, rehearse and think intentionally upon what God has given to us.

Herein is life! Open my heart, my eyes and take me deeper Lord! Make my delight in Your holy Word!

Prayer Father I thank-You for sending Jesus the living Word. Holy Spirit open my eyes and my understanding as I take time to meditate upon the Word of God. Lead me and guide me I pray for the glory of Jesus my Lord.

Memory Verse:  Acts 3:15 NLT “You _______ the ________ of life, but God ________ him from the ______. And we are witnesses of this fact!”
