A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse March 27, 2018 The Voice of the Spirit Scripture Reading – John 16:13 - 14 (NLT) “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me."

It was impossible for the disciples to even begin to understand how it would be better for them when Jesus went to heaven, and the administration of the Holy Spirit was born in the lives of every woman and man of God. For they had the opportunities to have those closed door meetings with Jesus and asked Him the questions that were on their hearts, receiving the answers - though often they found those answers hard to understand.

The cross, and sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ brought forth the ministry of the Holy Spirit into the life of every believer. So today, yes right now and at all times, 'The Voice of the Spirit' is leading and guiding our lives should we choose to listen and obey.

Jesus who is the Truth, says that the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. The Holy Spirit never speaks on His own, even as Jesus Christ never did independently His will, but only the will of the Father, as expressed through His life in us.

As the Holy Spirit speaks to us, and we follow His lead, we bring glory to the Son, and in turn the Father is glorified, as His kingdom comes and His will is being done through the church, the body of Christ.

One thing for us to remember, while the Holy Spirit may lead us with the still small voice, or even through dreams and visions is that the Holy Spirit always leads us through the Word of the living and loving God. Never in any way will the leading of the Holy Spirit be in contradiction with the revealed Word of God.

For this very reason, we need to realize that the more we as His children give ourselves to the Word of God, the more we can expect and realize the leading of the Holy Spirit in and through our lives.

Prayer Heavenly Father I desire to do Your will each and every day of my life. Holy Spirit open my heart and eyes to the truths of Your Word, and help me to hear and obey You day to day, for the glory of Jesus my Lord I pray.

Memory Verse:  Ephesians 2:4 – 5a NLT “But God is so rich in ______, and he _______ us so much that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.”
