A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse March 20, 2018 Guard The Treasure Scripture Reading – Proverbs 7:1 - 3 (NLT) “Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart."

If ever you see a Brinks truck, you are sure to see the guards with guns by their sides, because of the perceived value they are picking up. The same would be true with precious art, or precious stones on public display, not only guards, but high tech protection to ensure that these valuable items will be safe. And yet, according to Scripture, all of these things are passing and will fade away in light of eternity, despite the earthly value people place on them and the price people will pay for them.

Oh, but when it comes to eternal treasure, the same is true of earthly treasure:  You must follow the light to the end of the rainbow if you will, to truly discover the treasure, you must seek out the treasure with all of your heart, you must guard the treasure with the same type of care you have for your own eyes - which without of course you would be blind and unable to see, you must read and memorize it as a treasure map, for then you will discover the glory of the treasure, and you must dig deep down into the resources of your heart and allow this treasure to take root in order that you will produce lasting and eternal fruit.

So my friend, 'Guard The Treasure' - yes you know what He means the treasure of the Word of our living and loving God.

Prayer Heavenly Father, how I thank-You for Your holy Word. Holy Spirit open my eyes, and heart so I may allow the treasures You have for me in the Word to take root, in order that I may produce much fruit, I pray in Jesus precious name.

Memory Verse:  1 Chronicles 16:11 NLT “________ for the ______ and for his strength; continually seek him.”
