A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse March 17, 2018 Showing Oneself Wise Scripture Reading – James 3:13 (NLT)“If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom."

Those of us who know Christ Jesus are connected to the Source of all wisdom in Him, and through the reading of His Word and walking out of our Christian lives in the Person and power of the Holy Spirit. Today's text is an encouragement and instruction in, 'Showing Oneself Wise.

'For the source of godly wisdom, is not found within ourselves at all, but rather reflected in a life that brings glory and honor to the One who is not seen by human eyes, but by the eye of faith. The result of such a life is filled with the intentions and actions of the Father Himself, as Jesus often reminded speaking of His actions being not His own, but that of the Father. As children of God, we need to be in a posture of asking God to give us both wisdom and understanding in all of the decisions we live out, and most certainly over all of the words that we choose to speak out.

Godly wisdom and understanding in our lives does not make us proud or boastful as human understanding so often does. Rather we learn to walk in a true humility, both before God and people, not boasting about tomorrow, or certainly the things we may have acquired in this life, but living in the day that the Lord has given to us, and following His lead all along the way.

It is this kind of posture and prayer that sings out: 'I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord', and to which the Father is pleased to release those pearls of wisdom into our hearts and lives in order that we may pass them on to others, that the rule and reign of Jesus may come into more hearts and lives to the glory of God our Father.

Prayer Heavenly Father, each and every time I come before You I am reminded of my own humanity. Through Jesus I will humble myself, and request that You fill me with Your wisdom and understanding today, that He may be glorified both in and through me.

Memory Verse:  Ephesians 4:2 NLT“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.”
