For Your Name’s Sake Scripture Reading – Daniel 9:18 - 19 (NLT)“O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair. See how your city – the city that bears your name – lies in ruins. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy. O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.”

Daniel was heartbroken at the situation surrounding the people of God and the pain and stain of sin that he could see. We don’t have to look far or long to see the same kind of things rampant in our world today. Just two days after yet another senseless shooting in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, our hearts and prayers go out to all who have been injured or bereaved.

We do not have to look far even in our own Country of Canada, to see how much we need the healing grace of Jesus on our land, as laws come into pass that are in direct opposition to the clearly revealed Word of God.

Even in our own towns and cities, we see how much we need to call out for the grace of God. Certainly and even in our own homes and families many of us cry out to the Lord trusting Him to bring hope, deliverance and healing to those who find themselves in places of desperation.

We must come like Daniel did, not in our own strength or goodness. Not because in any way that we actually deserve help. But based upon the goodness, kindness, grace, mercy and power of Almighty God who so wants to break through and help us.

So, today, may we unify our hearts and call out to our God praying, ‘For Your Name’s Sake’, O Father come and heal our land. Forgive us our sins even as we forgive those who sin against us. We call upon you and trust you to come and not to delay. For we are those who both bear and desire to glorify Your name through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.

Prayer Father we come before you today, even as Daniel, crying out for Your goodness, Your mercy, Your grace, and Your healing touch all over the earth, in our nation, in our homes and even in our own lives. Not that we deserve it Father, but that You will receive more and more glory as prayers are answered, people are healed, and Your grace is revealed through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
