A Daily Devotional with Pastor Doug Crouse February 4, 2018    Pray This Way   Scripture Reading – Matthew 6:9 - 13 (NLT)

“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be one on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.”

Not that this is to be a form prayer that we recite over and over again, but this is the answer to the disciples question when they asked Jesus to teach them to pray, He said, ‘Pray This Way’. So we need to include these elements in a healthy prayer life.

Abba Father, a term of close endearment, shows how much the Father loves us and wants to speak with, dwell with and direct us.

Holy is Your name. True that our God is Holy, Holy, Holy – and may our lives reflect His holiness as a witness to others.

His kingdom will come and His will is going to be done. Our part is to pray and partner to extend His Good News to the ends of the earth.

Give us today our daily bread. Father help us not to become proud in the works of our hands but always to recognize Your blessing on our lives and steward all that we are and have daily for Your greater glory.

Forgive us as we forgive others. Father show me right now if there is anyone I need to forgive and give me the grace to do so I pray.

May we not yield to temptation. Rather yield to the fullness of the Person and power of the Holy Spirit living within each one of our lives. Knowing that in each and every temptation you will provide for us a way out.

Rescue us from the evil one. Help us to remember that our enemy wants only to steal and kill and destroy. But Lord Jesus, You have come to give us life and that more abundantly. Lead us on King eternal!

Prayer Heavenly Father I pray that just as the disciples longed for Jesus to teach them to pray, that You will put a hunger in my heart to know more of You. Thank – You for opening the door of heaven that through Jesus Christ I can come to You at any time, from any place, with any request and You will not only hear, but answer and guide me. I give myself to praying this way, that Jesus would continue to be shaped and glorified through my surrender, In His holy name I pray.

Memory Verse:  Matthew 7:12 NLT “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.”
