Born of God   Scripture Reading – John 1:12 - 13 (NLT)

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn – not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”

At least from the standpoint of our human thinking would it not make sense that if you or I were actually alive and able to literally see all of the things that Jesus Christ did, that most certainly we would believe that He was the Son of God, sent for us and follow after Him?

However, such was not the case. Even though Jesus healed the lame and leper, opened up deaf ears and the eyes of the blind, caused the mute to speak, fed over ten thousand an all you could eat buffet from a little boy’s lunch with twelve basketfuls left over, even was able to raise the dead – there were many who rejected the message of God’s love in Jesus Christ.

Same is true today, the message of God is open to all of us, but we must understand that we need a Savior and have the need not only to be born of a human work, but be, ‘Born of God’, or as Jesus explained to the religious leader Nicodemus, ‘I tell you the truth, you must be born-again’.

For this new birth that Jesus is speaking about is not a religion at all, but a relationship with the One true living God, when we surrender our hearts and lives to Jesus Christ and are born-again by the Spirit of God.

As those who have been reborn, we now are to carry this message not only to our family, friends and loved ones, but even to those we do not know, in fact to the very ends of the earth – that people must both believe and receive Jesus in order that they may be forgiven and have everlasting life.

When they do, whomever they are, and wherever they may be, they too will have the right to know, grow and show forth the experience of passing from death to live and becoming children of God.

Prayer Father I rejoice in the truth that You have bestowed me with such a great love through Jesus Christ that You call me your child. Help me I pray to live and love in such a way that others may find life through Jesus my Savior and Lord I pray.

Memory Verse:  Romans 8:37 NLT “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”
