I Will Sing New   Scripture Reading – Psalm 144:9 (NLT)

“I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp."

Ah yes that greatest of song writers shepherd boy David, must have had so much time to reflect and pray -  to think up new songs under the star light sky to lift up in praises to his God. And those anointed tunes were even able to still the hearts of mad kings when played in their presence, and invite the presence of God to abide.

So it is with the inclusion or worship and praise in our sitting together under the teaching of the Word whenever we gather as the people of God. The songs are never the 'preliminaries' which we want to get out of the way, so the Word can be proclaimed.

And even as I lift up a new song, which may be unfamiliar at the moment, I will not allow myself to be frustrated. Rather, when we lift up our voices together in adoration to Jesus our Lord, we then once and at the same time welcome the Presence of the Spirit of God, the One who will both animate and instruct our lives as we desire to live out the Word.

Nor will I allow a song of worship that may not be my particular style to divert my attention and my song of praise to God recognizing that there are others in the body who are identifying with this style of praise.

So as I gather, 'I Will Sing New' - recognizing that as I join together with you, He will smile down on this offering and fill us with His glory anew, drawing others to see our living and loving Jesus to.

Prayer Father in heaven, I praise You today. Help me to continually lift up a new song to You, Who are so worthy and fitting of all of my praise, I pray this in Jesus name.

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:10 "Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”
