Forever New   Scripture Reading – Colossians 3:10 - 11 (NLT)

“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn't matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us."

There is something special and unique about that, new car smell that only can be found in a brand spanking new car. But the truth of the matter is that no matter how much we  care for our car, it is only a short order of time before that new car smell is gone! In fact, most vehicles depreciate thousands of dollars immediately as they are driven off of the new car sales lot.

This forever aging of everything applies to absolutely everything in this world. Everything that is, except the new nature that you were given when you were born again by the Spirit of God. And so on this first day of the New Year, make it truly new by making every effort in the goodness and graces of God to put on the new clothing that Christ Jesus has purchased for you.

As you do, there will actually not be an aging towards death, but a renewing towards the life of God both in and through you. It is this continual newness of life for which we have been called and commissioned. How can one know if this change is continually taking place? Well the things that once were important to us, and those standards by which people often measure others in this world will no longer be the things that drive or motivate us. Your nationality will not be the most important matter. Nor will your place or economic stage in life be the driving factor. Not even your age will be the thing that binds or really matters. Rather you will see sisters and brothers in Christ Jesus and extend a love and grace towards one another that will cause those in the world to wonder what it is that actually unites such an eclectic group of people.

And the answer of course is not what at all, but rather....Who. It is the grace of God and love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit that cause us to be... 'Forever New'.

So on this the first day of this year, may this newness grow in me and in you too!

Prayer Heavenly Father, I look to You to make me continually new. Help me wear the new clothing of the Holy Spirit for the love of Jesus to flow through me I pray.
