Jesus concluded His Sermon on the Mount with a story illustrating an important truth:
Two houses were built on different foundations. One house was built on sand and was destroyed when rain, floods and wind swept it away. The other house was built on a foundation of bedrock and remained firm. Jesus stated after telling the story, "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters risk and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock."
