Your Promise of Blessing Scripture Reading – James 1:12 (NLT)

"God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."

It seems as though the Apostle Paul had an admiration for the athlete and the training they underwent in order not only to qualify, but then to compete and yes, of course to win their race. I must confess I admire them too, especially our Oilers in this Stanley Cup run!  And concerning this race of faith, the Christian life is best not described as a 100 yd. dash, but rather a marathon run!

The picture painted here is at the end of a long race, the participants having patiently endured many uphill battles and struggles, not alone, but with the Person, power and presence of God always leading, guiding and providing for them. It is not even half-way or three quarters of the way through the race that the prize is presented. But it is 'afterward' or as we would understand it in heaven that the final prize is handed out to each of us for the greater glory of Jesus Christ our Lord.

While it is true that we do get rather settled down here on planet earth, it does us well to remember as the song writer said that: 'This world is not our home, we're just a passing through, our treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue'. Those words are only true for those who have in fact by life, love, sacrifice and service down here chosen to be one of those who runs to win the heavenly prize!

And this crown of life, will never fade away or tarnish, but will be ours to cast down at the feet of Jesus our Lord who loves us so. Not only for a moment in time, but for all of eternity for the praise of His glorious grace.

So remember my friends, whatever you may be going through today, 'Your Promise of Blessing' is guaranteed by Jesus, who loves you and gave His life for you, and is in you by the Person, presence and power of the precious Holy Spirit, enabling you to do all God has called you to!

Prayer Father help me I pray to truly be thankful in all circumstances. I do confess that I feel hard pressed to do that in times of difficulty and adversity. But in and through Jesus Christ my Lord I will follow His lead to triumphal victory and reward.

Memory Verse:  Romans 8:28 NLT “And we _____ that God causes ___________ to work together for the _____ of those who love God and are called according to his purpose."
