Let It Die Scripture Reading – John 12:24 - 25 (NLT)

"I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels - a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care noting for their life in this world will keep it for eternity."

Jesus entering into that week of His passion was trying to explain the necessity of His death to His disciples. However their minds were still excited by that great triumphal entry into Jerusalem, with the crowds waving palm branches and shouting out blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. To be truthful: They still didn't get it.

And so often, neither do we. Of course everyone wants to go to heaven, to experience the grace and goodness of God, to know the blessings and fullness of His Spirit in their lives, even to dream and accomplish great things for God.

And the teaching of today's text, of the life of our Lord, and the following of His steps is that we must be willing to, 'Let It Die'. Now we know from the prayer of Jesus in Gethsemane, and confession that His soul was overwhelmed even to death, and request of His closest friends to keep watch with Him in prayer (to no avail) - that letting it die is never easy.

However if we want to see the harvest potential of Christ Jesus rise up in our lives we must be willing to allow many things to die. Even our dreams that we say are from God must be given over completely to Him in order that they will bear a great harvest for His greater glory. Yes, all of our hopes, our plans, our ambitions, our wishes and desires must be brought to the cross, not only once, but daily, in order that we may know the fullness of His resurrection life flowing through us.

And only when we are willing to lose our temporal lives for His eternal purposes will we ever achieve things that others and most importantly God will affirm were for His greater glory.

Prayer Heavenly Father thank-You for the love of Christ Jesus given me on the cross. Holy Spirit search me today, and may I be willing to let it die for the glory Christ Jesus my Lord.

Memory Verse: Revelation 5:12 (NLT)“And they sang in a _______ chorus: '_______ is the Lamb who was slaughtered - to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing."
