To the Glory of the Father   Scripture Reading – John 14:12 - 13 (NLT)

"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father."

Jesus is drawing near to the day when He will give of His life in order to bring salvation to all who will call upon His name and receive the gift and grace of God the Father. And as he speaks to His disciples about His going away, He speaks through 2000 years of HIStory into your and my heart today, if we will choose to receive and believe it, as we approach this resurrection Sunday.

And so we are then faced with the exact same questions that I am sure were in the hearts of the disciples: 'How can we do the same and even greater works than Jesus Christ did?'

And as you and I ponder along with them we would concur: He made the deaf hear, the blind see, the lame walk, the leper be cleansed, yes - even the wind and the waves obeyed His very command.

Surely Jesus must be speaking in hyperbole right? He really cannot mean what He is saying!

Surely not - for He is the way and the truth and the life, and He says even to us today, that He is telling us the truth. This power is open not only to the disciples, but to anyone who will call upon and believe in his name. Not only is this promise open to anyone, but in Jesus name we can ask Him for anything!

For you, and to me, and to His church the body of Christ these promises are true and sure, and the key if we will choose to pray and believe is that whatever is done is done, 'To the Glory of the Father', in the name of the Son, of course in the anointing of the Person and resurrection power of the Holy Spirit, so that the world may be won!

Therefore, my friends, let any one of us, anywhere, ask Him for anything, anything at all. In the same manner as which He did while He walked amongst us - that the will of the Father may be done, and that the world may be won, until we see Jesus face to face.

Prayer My Father in heaven, may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done for the greater glory of Christ Jesus Your Son. Even through my life today, in great and greater ways I ask, pray, receive and believe in Jesus mighty name.
