Revived and Renewed Scripture Reading – 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NLT)

"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day."

I do love the promise of life that comes with these first days of spring. Along with the cleansing and refreshing of an abundance of rain. After what can be a long and cold and dormant winter, these things usually have a way of warming up our hearts, causing us to lift up our heads and rejoice, maybe even do some Spring cleaning.

When it comes to our physical bodies this side of heaven today's text reminds us that they are dying, or fading away. That may not be very easy for us to believe in our teens, or even twenties or thirties. But as forty, presses through to sixty, seventy, eighty and even more, certainly in the natural it becomes much more apparent.

I have discovered however, even at the ripe age of 56 that it is not the years alone that really makes one young or old at heart. For I have been with some very 'old' twenty-something's and some very 'young' seventy plus people in this world. What I have discovered that makes all of the difference is the understanding that in Jesus our risen Lord we are, 'Revived and Renewed'. Yes, it is true that all of us in body are getting older, even with every second that we take to read today's Lifeline. But it also is equally and more importantly true, that God our Father is renewing our spirits by the Person and power of His Holy Spirit each and every day that we live, equipping us both for here and into eternity itself!

So even as we have passed naturally from winter into the promise of Spring, may we realize and remember that He is reviving and renewing our hearts today in His love.

Prayer Heavenly Father I remember that on the third day You raised Jesus Christ from the dead in the power and Person of the Holy Spirit. I rejoice that each and every day in my life you also are renewing and reviving me by Him and for His glory. I receive, I renew, I revive right now in Jesus name.
