Things You Must Do   Scripture Reading: Jude 20 - 22

“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering.”

When you go out to purchase a car, if you are fortunate enough ever to get a new one, there are things that are mandatory (like the engine, a steering wheel, and tires), and things that are optional (like power windows or air conditioning).

In the new life that we have been granted as daughters and sons of the living and loving Lord Jesus Christ, there are specific, ‘Things You Must Do’, if truly you are amongst the family of God. These things flow from the inner workings of our hearts and lives as we continue to progress in our relationship in Jesus.

When we were born again, God indwelt us in the Person and power of the Holy Spirit. It is He who moves us along, reveals God’s truth to us, renews our minds and actually gives us the desire to do those things that God has created us in Christ Jesus to do.

Rather than tearing people down, talking behind their backs, looking for the negative in their lives, or thinking that they are somehow much below us in their spiritual progress – God calls us to build up our brothers and sisters in Jesus name. This is not an option, but rather something that God will hold each and every one of us to account for when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

We also must be those who take time to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us in our daily lives. We are to be those who are aware of and even are hungry to listen for and obey that still small voice of God that will order our steps and make our lives count. Living each and every day with the knowledge that we are the recipients of God’s mercy that will lead us one day into the fullness of the salvation that He has purposed and planned for us.

Prayer Father, your mercy and grace are truly amazing to me. Fill me to all the measure of the fullness of God that I will do these things that I must do I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 12:27 “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.”
