From Generation to Generation Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 1:5 - 7

“I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.”

I am not certain where your spiritual heritage in Jesus Christ began. Perhaps you are the first one in your family line to receive Christ, or you are following in the steps of those who came before you. I do know for certain though that it is the Father’s plan and purpose to be blessing, ‘From Generation to Generation’, and to all nations, even unto the ends of the earth.

I am so thankful for my parents who faithfully brought myself and my sister to the house of God every Sunday that I can remember as a child. For my mother in particular who was (and still is) faithful to pray over her family, her Pastor’s and leaders, her church and the body of Christ in mission. I am sure it was those prayers that followed after my teenage life until finally at 18 years of age, I surrendered to Jesus.

Also thankful for a wonderful father, who always was a God fearing man, but it was thirty years ago yesterday that during a reading week at bible college when Wanda and I were visiting them at their Florida condo, that I witnessed my Father also responding to the calling of God on his life, walking forward to receive God’s gift of grace and salvation. Happy new 30th birthday dad, God sure knows exactly where you are today, and is giving you grace and strength to continue to trust Him.

You too my sister and brother have a wonderful faith story that is your very own because of His great love. As you have opportunities when you come together with the church, the body of Christ take advantage of corporate times of prayer where hands can be laid upon you, your gifts can be encouraged and imparted. For God has created you for this very moment in time. Everyone has gifts that they can contribute in service in order that the body of Christ will be edified and built up.

How I rejoice too for the congregation in which I have the honor to serve, where I see faithfulness in the generations, to all the nations and to the mission that God is calling us collectively to reach out and serve in Jesus name.

Prayer That we all can call You our Father speaks to the heart of love that You have towards all of those who have been redeemed through the precious sacrifice of Jesus. Thank-You God for all of the gifts bestowed unto me, and to Your church. Fill us with faith and power to serve You faithfully until we obtain our reward as we see Jesus face to face I pray in His holy name.

Memory Verse: James 1:17a “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.”
