Press On Scripture Reading – Philippians 3:13 - 14 (NLT)

"No dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling us."

If there was anyone in the Bible besides Jesus Christ our Lord, who people may have looked to as having done it all, perhaps it would have been the Apostle Paul. Born into the right family, with the right connections, educated with the best of teachers - and having the highest marks of the class.

Then saved by our resurrected Jesus and infused with a tireless energy to plant countless churches all over the then known world, and even being used by God to write most of what we now know in God's Word as the New Testament.

Yet the great Apostle Paul is quick to admit that even he had not reached his goal - he was not perfected, and he did not even always do it perfectly for that matter.

Our Lord Jesus Christ on the other hand Who was absolutely perfect in every way also spoke often about not wanting to do His own thing, but always wanting to do the will of the Father, which of course He alone perfectly did!

Paul gives us the perfect way or recipe for life. It will enable us to, 'Press On' and achieve all that Christ is calling us to in His high and holy calling.  It begins with forgetting yesterday, and all of the things - good or bad that have taken place. They are behind us, and are water under the bridge.

It continues with today, this day that the Lord has made, and focusing on the things that Christ will bring into our lives for His glory. In order for each one of us to reach those things and gain the prize that God wants to present to us, it will require that we lift up our eyes and focus on the plans and purposes that God has for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Prayer Heavenly Father I confess my great need of You today. Help me I pray to see Your kingdom come and Your will be done in my life today. Holy Spirit fill me, so I will press on to this high and holy calling through Jesus Christ my Lord I pray.

Memory Verse:  Ephesians 4:3 NLT "Make every _______ to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace."
