Higher and Higher Scripture Reading – 1 John 3:2 - 3 (NLT)

"Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure."

God's call on each one of our lives has truly lifted us up into a new way of living and loving in the Person and power of the Holy Spirit. In the old words of the Hymn, 'lifted out of the miry clay, and set on Christ Jesus the rock to stay, with a song of praise in our mouths to our risen Lord'.

This upward call of the Holy Spirit has effected everything that we are and hopefully want to be: our hearts from stone to flesh, our minds from carnal to Christ, our eyes from temporal to eternal and all of our passions from earthly to heavenly.

We know that we are clothed in the righteousness of Christ, and saved by grace alone through faith alone - but as we share fellowship with Him in the Person and power of the Holy Spirit, we so want to become more and more like Him.

This for those who are truly the daughters and sons of God is not a once in a lifetime prayer, but a daily devotion to be walked out in all that we are. We long to be more like Jesus, and yes, one day to see Him, and be like Him and be transformed into His likeness, for His greater glory.

As this hope, and this reality and this expectation of Jesus fills our hearts and lives - we then look to be purified in thought, word and deed, even so others will see Him as we did and be saved. His calling is always a high and holy calling. One that values who we are as individuals, and leads us onto and into pathways of promise in Jesus.

Prayer Father in heaven, I pause, right now in Jesus name and receive the infilling work of the Holy Spirit into my life. Thank-You for the upward calling You have planned and purposed for me. Change me, transform me, make me more like Jesus my Lord I pray.

Memory Verse:  John 14:6 NLT "Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the ______, and the _____. No one can _____ to the _______ except through ____."
