Mercy Me Scripture Reading – 1 Peter 1:3 - 4 (NLT)

"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance - an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay."

When you and I choose each and every day, by the grace of God in each and every way to show mercy to others by giving them what they do not deserve, we become most like our Heavenly Father, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For this reason, we praise His holy name each and every day of our lives. Who else could have taken and borne the price for all of our sinfulness. So much so that now we are called the daughters and sons of the living and loving God! We may by His great mercy, grace and love approach Him at any time and in any place. Even stop right now if you can and take two or three minutes thanking Him for His abundant mercy credited to your account.

May you and I more and more be those who outwardly display mercy to people in each and every situation we may find ourselves processing. For when we consider what God has done for each one of us it really is, 'Mercy Me'. What does that look like? Let's consider the word itself:  My life is refreshed by God's new mercies each and every day, may I have the ability to continually show mercy to those I come into contact with all along life’s way.  Everyone needs to discover the compassion of Jesus, may I mirror His heartbeat to family, friends and neighbors.  Restoration comes to people and situations when I display His mercy.  Compassion is like my Father and Jesus my Savior, 'your pain in my heart'.  Yielding to the needs, shortcomings and feelings of others and choosing to die to my own selfish interests and ways is the only way true mercy will ever flow from me.

Prayer My Father in heaven, You are the God of all mercy and all grace. I want to be more like You. Holy Spirit, help me, fill me with the heart of the Father to display mercy, grace and forgiveness to those who do not deserve such, humanly speaking. I ask these mercies in and for the name of Jesus Christ my Lord.

Memory Verse:  Philippians 2:10a NLT "__ want to _____ Christ and ____________ the mighty power that raised him from the dead.”
