As
children of God we have the amazing privilege of looking
forward to the glorious return of Jesus Christ. In fact,
when Peter wrote to the faithful he remarked that we should
live lives, “looking forward to the day of God and
hurrying it along.”
We
can look forward to a lot of things: a weekend, supper,
a holiday, a date…there's too many to mention. The one
thing that Peter emphasized here was the return of Christ.
The Bible tells us that He is coming back for His church,
but we don't know when. That being the case, we must live
ready, looking forward if you will, to His coming.
The
text in 2 Peter 3:12 says that we ought to “hurry” that
day along. We are all challenged to live in a manner that
hurries the day of the Lord, which calls for holiness
and godliness.
